Pros

HIRE PEOPLE FOR CHEAP WAGES AND LITTLE HOURS SO THE STORE CAN PROFIT FROM IT. VERY CROOKED WAY TO DO BUSINESS-----

Cons

i have worked extremely hard for HY VEE the past 2 years and have been refused a raise and full time work. All they do is have part time employees run the store so they do not have to pay decent wages and benefits that a hard working employee deserves. 90% of the store is run by part time employees. They would rather hire part timers by the truckload, rather than give a person full time hours that they have been asking for for several months. LOUSY WAY TO TREAT AN EMPLOYEE!!!!

Pros

If you establish that you're capable, store management will allow some degree of independence. Camaraderie between employees with the same level of responsibility is typically strong (common in the grocery business).

Cons

Advancement opportunities are generally only offered to those "in the club." Hy-Vee's much-touted employee ownership is disappearing. Assistant manager titles are handed out as token gestures, so they mean little.

Pros

There are essentially flexible hours but that is the only benefit for part-time workers.

Cons

There are no benefits, no opportunities to grow or move up in the company and the cliquish environment and extreme problems with micromanaging is terrible. I was continuously criticized and limited despite having a bachelor's degree in business and management. In order to avoid taking care of the employees the company cut hours and wages to a horrendous degree.
