Pros

full time benefits, pay is ok because the work is hard, they offer meals to workers on occasion, people say hi and greet you

Cons

work is hard for non management workers. Having to work every Sunday and only getting 2 holidays off (Thanksgiving and Christmas) unless your day off falls on a holiday. Having to use vacation days when you are sick. Management treating workers like elementary school students like writing your name on calendar board if you make a mistake on the day you mess up, only allowing the "privileged" to carry cell phones, treat injured workers badly, telling employees where to grocery shop.

Pros

As with any Company - location/management are variables - so this review is specific to my store, and not about Hy-Vee in general. Pros: Making and serving quality coffee drinks - CARIBOU Brand Coffee. Meeting new people, making them happy, and turning them into regular customers. Relaxed and well decorated cafe/coffee shop - free standing - separate from main Food Market - Customer visits were intentional - inside or drive thru - they were there to place an order - not just pass through/by to grocery shop. (Unlike the coffee kiosk inside the store which should be converted into a more productive and cost effective use - ie catering or wedding consulting)

Cons

Dismally managed dept. with little to no supervision of young, immature employees with little experience and poor work ethics. Cell phones, helping themselves to "free" drinks/food, sitting around (or sleeping) in the cafe, with friends dropping by occasionally created distractions equivalent to getting payed to party - while the more experienced employees did most of the work.

Pros

Good company. Flexible hours, can pretty much get away with murder there and as long as you look like youre staying on task you should be fine

Cons

Management is fresh out college, d-bags who micromanage and think theyre cool, if you can get past that though its not bad.
