Nice place to Work, but don't do it for the pay

Pros

Delightful campus and work environment in Westlake, Ohio. Great experience for new IT professionals wanting to grow their career. Excellent community involvement (Hyland will pay you up to 12 hours VTO or Volunteer Time off).

Cons

Pay is lower than industry averages (company tries to justify with optional perks). Some employees receive private stock options which may eventually pay off in the long run. Many experienced employees leave for jobs at customer or partner companies (for better pay). This leads to a great deal of churn and burn for new employees. Remote employees and offices are treated as second rate citizens.

Pros

Hyland does it's best to keep employees working hard by giving them benefits. They offer on campus dining, hair cuts, car washes, and work out facilities.

Cons

Many employees (current and past) complain about the wages, and I agree with them.

Pros

Hyland is the real deal when the discussion is on work/life balance. This company truly cares for its employees and it shows in so many facets. There is a high level of transparency from the C-level management and they are actively involved in the day-to-day. Personal growth is encouraged and fostered with career track planning, education opportunities and reimbursement, and provided as part of the job duties of any management level. Career opportunities are abound here as the company is growing leaps and bounds. Hyland makes an effort to ensure that people management is not the only vertical growth possibility by extending specialized positions in many areas.

Cons

Work can be intense at times. All of the benefits that come with working at Hyland require an intense level of work to satisfy the company's relentless pursuit of customer satisfaction. Hyland provides a great experience for its employees and expects that to be turned into productive work. Being a self-starter and a productive team member is an absolute must here. Compensation at the junior and entry levels may be a little below rates at other firms. This does improve over time and with experience coming into positions. Compensation matches that of similar jobs in the Midwest, South and Southwest. Candidates coming from the West or East coast may have trouble matching their current salaries, especially in the technical positions.
