Growing pains, poor work culture, stresspot
Pros
Salary and benefits are good. The company outings are fully sponsored and fun. Everybody is focused and professional. Work gets done thanks to strong managers. Multicultural atmosphere. Adequately transparent management. The company is fair towards its employees, and is doing very well in its sector (plus breaking new ground every day), which is inspiring. The CEO and senior management have the staff's respect.
Cons
The company is growing very rapidly, so it's hiring a lot. However, it's also firing people at an alarming rate. Not a month goes by without a few people getting hired and a few people leaving voluntarily or getting fired (including senior employees). To make matters worse, there is absolutely *no* training program in place, and the IT department is atrociously inefficient in helping new or existing employees with their day-to-day problems -- it's very common for new employees to do absolutely nothing during their first few days because their computers haven't been set up properly by IT, or (yes, this happens) they haven't been supplied with a computer at all. All these factors, combined with the intense workload and high expectations, make the work environment *very* stressful, especially for people who have been hired for less than a year (who constitute about two-thirds of the company). The pressure is so intense that the salary, while high-ish compared to Vancouver, feels paltry at times. Working remotely is almost prohibited, which just makes things harder.
