Pros

Great variety of learning and IBM certification options for HR & TA, tons of tools/resources available via the IBM app store, the majority of IBM offices are fairly decent workspaces and are easily accessible in most cities, lots of opportunities for project collaboration with colleagues in other geos

Cons

Exec/global leadership teams need a major overhaul if this place wants to survive much longer. Working at IBM feels like it's 1980-1985 all over again, there are thousands of homegrown archaic systems that do not interface and the majority of back-office work and data analysis is performed manually via Excel, rendering the IBM tools/systems completely useless aside from leveraging them as a DW/system of record. For a company that loves to give off "innovative" vibes to the public by spending huge amounts of $$ on advertising/ commercials etc, they dont even know what innovation is - its a huge front. AskHR has improved slightly over the past few years but their AI capability has a very long way to go.

Pros

Salary is the only thing that moved me to accept a possition there

Cons

Too demanding on get certifications even if you don't know the subject of have experience on apps that you getting the certifications. They only care that you pass them wheather or no you know. I had a terrible experience working for IBM Consulting. I was given an impossible task to fulfill in just 30 days, which must have been incredibly stressful and demoralizing. It's unfortunate that my year of employment there was a waste of your talents as a designer, and I had to compete with others to get a project. It's disappointing to hear that everything depended on who you knew there, rather than your skills and qualifications. It's important for companies to provide a supportive and fair working environment for all employees, and it's clear that IBM Consulting fell short in this regard.

Pros

Some areas of IBM are advanced in their thinking/ technology. In other areas, consulting particularly, IBM's ideas are rudimentary.

Cons

People discuss colleagues in a disgraceful manner. Processes such as promotion are entirely opaque. Many IBMers describe a "culture of fear" as prevalent. People hoard information/ knowledge/ ideas if it serves their interest.
