Pros

When you have a great manager that protects you from upper management nonsense, its great

Cons

Here's the real reason I'm posting. 1. They've stopped 401k matching (6%) and have switched to a "Retirement benefit account" that matches 5% of your salary. The downside is two-fold, returns in the RBA pegged at 3% and you have zero choice in how its invested. If you're early to mid career this is a massive loss. Also because its an RBA and not a 401k you don't have the same protections and choice if something happens to IBM, at least with a 401k its your account, the RBA stays withing IBM's control until you leave 2. The return to office is extremely sloppy, sites not having enough workspace, "come into the office or resign" ultimatums...all of this because of poor planning

Pros

Access to F100 C-Suite, Access to Resources

Cons

IBM has now been downsizing for well over a decade by laying off employees and spinning off whole business units. As a retired long-term IBM employee, it was sad to see the company go into freefall. There was huge pressure to generate revenue by cutting corners and using "bait and switch" with customers. IBM had gone through a period were they just laid off all of their older, experienced workers and had completely fumbled the transition to cloud. In my region IBM had had multiple projects cancelled due to poor performance due to understaffing. IBM responded by laying off more people and putting more pressure on the remaining staff to sell more, at any cost. IBM is now in a situation where they are an afterthought when compared to Google, Microsoft and Amazon.

Pros

- Great if you love the feeling of your brain decaying because we are in the 21st century and somehow this cutting edge Data Scientist job is a glorified excel data entry role - Great if you love feeling useless and helpless in your role due to circular management - Great if you love being screamed by superiors for not magically solving problems you asked for support on months ago but support was not offered - Great if you love facing micro-aggressions from your whole team because everyone hates each other because no one has any idea what's going on because no one takes accountability for anything; especially when you jump for a new opportunity and everyone starts spreading very true stories that definitely have factual backing behind them about you :) - Great if you love HR hounding you after you've left, claiming overpayment (pennies, btw, to this billion dollar corp)

Cons

None! See above; I clearly only had pros :)
