Pros

Great company for those starting their careers, and with plenty of resources for learning. Opportunities arise as projects evolve, come and go, one must be ready. There is always an expert somewhere in an area you migh need help with. Things get done (sometimes not cheap or pretty), that's why customers come back. Decent health insurance and pension. There is flexibility when needed for personal/family reasons.

Cons

One must be aware of internal politics, this is a 100+ year old machine after all. Visibility is key to career progress, you must balance this with real work to avoid frustration. Salaries tend to be on the low end of the industry average (at least for non-managerial positions). Changes in direction/priorities happen very quickly, one must accept and move on.
