Pros

Flexible with remote work and work life balance

Cons

Horrible management from the staff managers to LOB and Division leads. They overhire and under assigned work, are too hands off, they play favorites, they don’t give you the specific resources and guidance for the work you’re given, and they expect you to “find your own work” without any assistance. Executives make multi-million dollar salaries, shareholders are prioritized over staff, and after a year of quarterly profits over $25m each, they had to resort to lay offs after 1 month of the new administration because they can’t sustain their workforce while sending management around the country for self serving conferences and awards (that don’t materially mean anything and they just repeat the same vague industry liners) Most of their local, state, and national work products are just copy and pasted with jurisdiction names and data filled in. They say they are people first, yet are getting rid of their DEI policies and support so they don’t upset the government. As a company founded by a Tuskegee Airman, they should be ashamed of their self serving hypocrisy and how they just fall in line to government demands so they don’t risk losing a dollar. Zero integrity. They just like to hear themselves talk Most positions are expected to have an 80-90% billable workload, so the company is only wanting to pay its workers out of company funds for 4-8 hours/week. Should NOT be in the business of preaching sustainability when they can’t sustain their own workers.

Pros

1. Base compensation is at market 2. Great people work at ICF 3. There are a lot of learning and development opportunities due to growth and transformation 4. ICF as a Company does great work that benefits the world

Cons

Six upper level and key people have left the ICF accounting department in less than two months. Rather than looking into the real issues it seems as though the party line is to say that it’s due to “bad eggs.” So what happened....here is the truth: The CFO has created a toxic and unfair environment for the majority of those within the finance and accounting organization. The crux of the issue is that people seem to be held to different standards. Some are asked to bring skill and hard work to the table while others do very little, benefit from the work of the hard working and get compensated better and more accolades. Any dissenting talk about this unfairness is twisted as those individuals not being team players or problem children. The real contributors are constantly questioned and called to task while the others are allowed to skate. It often puzzles people as to why their seems to be unwavering support for some who have a proven record of issues and mistakes. It has gutted the morale of particularly the accounting team. There is also a genuine lack of appreciation for technical expertise and skill. Again, when those who are competent and skilled at their jobs get frustrated with those who aren’t qualified for their positions and who cause many issues for the department, it is ignored and seen as destructive. It is the epitome of bad leadership. With all the departures, there is no real leadership in the accounting team at this time despite their being a Controller which has made the morale even worse. Many more will quit over the rest of 2019 unfortunately and hopefully at some point it will be enough for leadership to do something. I would not currently recommend anyone I care about to join this finance and accounting organization until leadership changes are made. It’s sad because ICF isn’t a bad company as a whole and the accounting team used to be one of high performance and great people.
