Pros

You know you are doing work that is helping sick people Some lower-level employees are very nice to work with

Cons

Extremely rigid corporate environment where employees are treated like drones US employees have had sick time taken away, so you must choose between being sick or taking vacation. As a result, most employees come to work sick and get everyone around them sick. Health insurance costs double each year. Salaries in no way keep pace. No creativity or innovation is encouraged. Managers are discouraged from giving any positive feedback; nothing is ever good enough, even when goals are exceeded.

Pros

Global Experience, decent bennies and PTO, but....It is only a 'jump off point" in your clinical research career and anyone who stays more than 2-3 years is just plain dumb...since the nest step is the large pharma, where the work is more fulfilling, the pay better and opportunities abound...

Cons

no training, little or no opportunity for professional growth and when there is a promotion it is years in coming-review process is set up to make you look average, even when you excel at your job-certain items in the self evaluation cannot be rated over a 3 ( average), pulling down your overall score so that promotions are unlikely, as are any meaningful wage increases, since there is no across the board "cost of living increases" all are merit based - 1-3% is the norm. Middle management is unresponsive- not any clue what challenges their people face daily, and are extremely resistant to change even when proven to be more time efficient and can improve timelines for delivery and hence better results for customer. They make promises to potential customers even when they know they cannot deliver without hiring more personnel. Big staff turn over ..Manager knew less about the job than the people she managed, which means you have no resource for the tough questions and decisions-this company especially BREEDS a culture of the way to get ahead is throwing someone under the bus.. and it works and is encouraged. That means there is no room for team work and the overall environment asks for back stabbers, so those people do get ahead, while those who are willing to own their mistakes, ( we all make them., and it is how we grow and learn), those who are honest have no place in this company.

Pros

They pay you a very high salary.

Cons

Very disorganized. The marjority of the management is very new and their training is terrible. My manager has not been able to answer a single question (including helping me with my timesheet) unless consulting her manager first. The trials are a mess. Icon seems to put profitability first (instead of quality). Almost all of the CRAs I have interacted with are planning on quiting at their one year anniversary (so they don't have to pay the bonus back). The new CRA bonus program is a sham, they will not pay it even if things are out of your control (your report is signed off one day late because of the CTM). The training is awful so if you are new to the industry or the job then you are going to learn the hard way.
