Disaster for HEOR and P&MA consulting
Pros
Intelligent, lovely people in the consulting arms of the company (ICON Commercialization and Outcomes). Benefits are not terrible.
Cons
Pricing and Market Access group (formerly PriceSpective) imploded ... at least 80% of staff left or were let go between 2015 and 2016. CRO business model and leadership ill-equipped to manage a consulting practice. Consultants constantly under pressure to sell and generate higher profit margins for projects and BD targets are both unattainable and unrealistic. Leadership over and outside the consultancies have little interest in supporting the consultancies and have never tried to understand the nature of the work HEOR, P&MA, and PRO teams do. Major disconnects, therefore, between head of ICON Commercialization and Outcomes and the late-phase consultancies. Morale among consulting staff that remain is exceptionally low. Professional development is basically non-existent.
