Pros

Excellent benefits, a lot of opportunity for training and professional growth. IDEXX has been very supportive of me as a working parent, and I have been very happy here. I really like my role and my manager has been very supportive and encouraging.

Cons

Not everyone can succeed here--it is very fast-paced and a lot like a start-up (even though the comany is 1B+). You have to be okay with change and working with changing priorities.

Pros

The benefits package is one of the only good aspects of the company.

Cons

Working for IDEXX has been the worst experience I have ever had with any employer. Management is usually unqualified and unprofessional. The company claims to have an open door policy and promises to keep anything you discuss with management between you and your managers. However, management WILL discuss your personal matters with your coworkers. Management WILL speak badly about your coworkers to you and will speak badly about you to your coworkers. You cannot trust anybody which leads to an unbelievably negative work environment. They take advantage of hard working dedicated employees. Employees who work hard are stuck carrying the weight of other employees that will only do the bare minimum (sometimes even less than that). This is an ongoing issue and management does not correct the problem as long as the work is getting done. They will watch the stress eat you alive but you will never receive recognition for a job well done. The lab is always severely understaffed and they expect you to work overtime and as many Saturdays as they can get out of you. The company uses the poor economy as leverage to do whatever they want to their employees. No matter how hard you work for the company they treat you like you are completely disposable and tell you that you should be lucky to have a job at all. I would say that the work environment reminds me of high school but I don’t even remember high school being so cruel. A few little generals (as I like to call them) believe they control the lab. They will risk the quality and accuracy of the clients’ lab results by intentionally messing with samples to sabotage other employees that they feel are getting too strong. They do not want you to succeed and when you do they will go to extremes to make you appear like a bad employee. Most of the lab techs don’t have any education and have worked their way up by manipulating management. The company will sell you the world on your interview and discuss all the wonderful opportunities for advancement. However, if you do well at your position they will not move you up. If you do poorly they will not move you up. Catch 22. The lab is full of unqualified and insecure people that make it a point to make EVERYBODY miserable. I have never been this unhappy with an employer before. Take my advice and don’t fall for the bull s*** they sell you on your interview.

Pros

The health insurance and other basic benefits like STD/LTD and dental are good. IDEXX is better than unemployment, but it's a sad place to work.

Cons

Management is out of touch, uncaring, inaccessible. They rule through fear and intimidation. A few people make outrageous salaries, but most people are poorly paid and dissatisfied.
