Pros

Casual work environment A ton of opportunity for advancement Innovative and high tech Very smart, talented people who are refreshingly friendly Fantastic benefits Flexible work schedule A mutli-faceted company that is a market leader in all lines of business Company IS GROWING! Location offers excellent quality of living; very good public and private schools, Portland (a culinary epicenter), art galleries, antiques, sandy beaches and mountains close by. Best of New England living!

Cons

Due to rapid growth you have to be able to adapt to change People who embrace change and growth; see the progress, do very well here People who do not like change might struggle with the change and the pace

Pros

Beats the bread line, barely Executive management has a handle on managing ahead of the downturn but leadership team is AWFUL, HORRID, completely without merit and vision. They apparently care little that the leadership team across the board has little idea what's happening in the world of their science other than biology and chemistry. Granted there are a few who can do their job pretty well but it is DEFINITELY not the case in general. Just read the other comments, they are consistent in critical remarks about leadership and competitive initiative. During my tenure of more than 3 years I was rarely given one bit of positive feedback. Completely negative, received top bonus pay though, indicating work was perceived as excellent but never once told by anyone "Good Job". Absolutely worst company to work for in my entire lengthy career.

Cons

Massive frustration as 20 year LBN's run a company with no idea of what comprises leadership and management excellence and little if any desire to learn or listen to 'outsiders'.

Pros

I was recruited to work at the headquarters in Westbrook about 7 months ago. The benefits package for full-time employees is very competitive. I had been concerned about the work/life balance, especially after reading reviews here on glassdoor.com. Those concerns were unfounded, and I have found that IDEXX has extremely flexible working conditions. I have had the opportunity to participate in interesting projects that have enhanced my skill set. I find my supervisor to be approachable and open to new ideas and suggestions. I have not been "micro-managed" and instead, have a great deal of autonomy in my role. My knowledge base is trusted by my supervisor, but I am encouraged to ask questions if needed. Overall, I am extremely happy with my decision to come to IDEXX! The company is continuing to grow, and it's fantastic that such a stable company exists in Southern Maine.

Cons

The one con I have found is that pay is not always competitive with other companies for certain roles. Now, this is not true for all positions, but some do have lower salaries that what you might find elsewhere.
