Pros

With the bonus, good salary... too bad I never got to see the bonus...

Cons

They are are laying-off people like crazy, it doesn't matter if you are good. They hired me and 3 months later laid me off, despite of my good work even in the short period of time. From what I heard from recruiters around town, nobody (recruiters) want to work with IGT because they have lay-offs every year. I also heard from a former employee as well, (and I am not sure if is true) if managers like their people, they hire some more people, so when the lay-off "season" comes, they let the new ones go. I feel I was "the new one" they let go.

Pros

Co-workers - I would never have stayed so long without great teammates and management up to the VP level. Decent pay for the area, but not compared to other locations. Depending on the department, flexible schedules were possible. Generally family friendly except for overtime.

Cons

Top management makes arbitrary decisions that have seriously hurt the company, both in the short and long term. Our department worked crazy overtime for multiple years in an effort to modernize the product and process and to keep up with our competitors. It felt like management wanted it (and the company) to fail. Other reviews referring to layoffs and firings are very accurate. The company integrity policy (that we were constantly reminded of) felt amazingly hypocritical. It was very difficult to get promotions for newer hires (hurting retention) and recruiting was already hard. Everything from facilities to IT seemed stacked against getting things done. Employee benefits had degraded significantly. I sold my stock. I am encouraging the best coworkers to leave as soon as possible. I hope the worst of what's happened comes out publicly. It is definitely not the same company as when I joined, and that's really sad.

Pros

The individual contributors are the best people to work with. It was a second home and family for many of us. We worked hard, we played hard, and we supported one another.

Cons

The arrival of the new CEO fractured the family feel of the company and made it more corporate. It was accepted at first due to the economy, but the new CEO and all the new VP's didn't understand what IGT does. While other companies are finding their stride, IGT seems to think oppression and scare tactics will result in better performance.
