Pros

-Reasonable Benefits. -Stable job. -Sick time. -Co-workers are friendly.

Cons

-You have to be friend of managers to get a career promotion. Promotion is not based on your skills. -No culture of career growth. -Underpaid Job. -No salary increases. -There is a very old school, some of the managers are the worst managers and leaders I have worked with, they only take care of their own interests and career. -No work/life balance. Sometimes you have to work more than 12 hours per day, and weekends, with no extra pay, that means you have to work for free (crazy). They promise you a "Building Excellence", that is a bonus that some of the workers receive at the end of a project, but you have to work many hours to receive that (60-80 hours per week), that means that you have problems with your family. Workers that receive that bonus are not all the workers in the project, so even though you have worked many hours in a project, it is probably that you do not receive the bonus. -You have to be on-call always. You can receive Hotline calls to attend issues at anytime, night, weekends, holidays. -You cannot be updated with the most recent technologies. They have standard products built many years ago, they only adapt these products to the new projects.

Pros

Free coffee is never turned down. Respectful environment. Flexible off time.

Cons

Upper management has turned this into a dour environment. Very little possibility of advancement (unless those above you quit).

Pros

New logo! .. And more parking spots due to all of the layoffs. Rumor is more layoffs coming soon .. = more parking spots!

Cons

Terrible management team. Company bloated with VPs and Directors most of whom are in over their heads and probably just biding time until they can find a job somewhere else. Nervous workforce, everyone worried about jobs. If company sells to foreign buyer (GTECH) Reno office is fat target for closure. Anyone good who has options has split. Those stuck in Reno are .. stuck in Reno. Sad to learn Patti Hart makes $8m per year (look it up, public info) while she has destroyed so much shareholder value and reputation and morale. She can't manage the company to profitability and can only get the stock price up inorganically, via raising a white flag and announcing the company is for sale. She and her cronies will get their change of management bonus soon and be out. But it's too late to turn around, the company is years behind where it needs to be and smaller more nimble competitors are eating its lunch -- while the industry itself is going through a painful transformation due to globalization and a shift to a younger target gambler. IGT is not positioned to be strong in either vertical.
