Pros

- free screenings - people are impressed when you say you work there - pretty good benefits (but got worse year to year)

Cons

- Never given any positive reinforcement or compliments - rewarded for throwing people under the bus - Low morale - they encourage you to learn new skills but then yell at you for not doing your job (even when you have free time) - everyone hordes info and power rather than works as a team - was told to lie to clients and other departments about delivery times - poor workflow - suggestions for improvements ignored - mistakes you made in the past you could never live down. No joke a mistake i made my first month there was still thrown in my face two years later - horrible work life balance. expected to live for the company. I was told to come in on the weekend just because "I hadn't done it in a while" i knew several employees that took separate cars from their family to social events in case they got unexpectedly called in - departments are pitted against each other - upper management had no idea of the workflow, process or how long things took and therefor had ridiculous expectations

Good salary and excellent benefits. Friendly work environment.

Cons

Lack of advancement / upgrade path. Lack of involvement with coworkers, and ZERO job security. Unpredictable layoffs.

Pros

If you're able to self-teach, you'll learn a lot, as you're expected to do everything. That gives you lots of opportunities to learn. People are impressed when you say you work for IMAX.

Cons

You're essentially "on call" 24-7 and expected to live for the company. You'll NEVER receive positive feedback no matter how far above and beyond you go. While they brag about how well the company is doing financially they simultaneously are reducing benefits and cutting raises and bonuses for everyone but upper management. It's a company that used to focus on producing the highest quality product in the world, all they care about now is making money for the very top managers, cutting costs and quality everywhere they can.
