Pros

- quoting an ex-sales director who was a homegrown sales champ - opportunities to learn and gain commercial knowledge across all markets, literally ALL industries (at least converse and be able to relate with just anybody) - if you come here knowing what your personal goals are, you are in the right place.. but even if you don't, when you land under a good manager, he/she will help you find it out and journey with you through it to see it a reality - good place to learn and earn

Cons

- culture varies from one department to another, depts work in silos, lots of firefighting on our own backyards - some launch events can be tough to sell coz of the higher risk involved - but it's make or break - we benefit a lot when they make it well in the market - not much ongoing training for team leads / dept heads; more of self-study / more of "do the best you can and know how" - most conversations circle around hitting targets, meeting budget, making profits (but then again it's a business for profit, so just get on with it!) - comms / incentives are getting lesser and lesser as time goes by

Pros

Exposure to all marketing channels

Cons

How to be a Marketing Manager at IQPC I know how frustrating it is when you work with the wrong people or for the wrong company. That’s why I want to spare you the pain. The IQPC universe is all about WORK WORK WORK!! There is so much to do. The pay is twaddle and the managers are like ravenous sharks circling you looking for blubber. This can get exhausting very quickly for one person and don’t ever expect help! IQPC’s runs like an Indonesian sweatshop, but with contracts. There is a never-ending TO DO list and managers always try to make you feel that you are not doing as much as your counterparts in the other divisions. Here’s 3 reasons why you should run and not say ‘yes’ to a job offer from IQPC: • Unlimited nonsense: Annual performance reviews happen at the pub by managers who enjoy their beers while deciding upon your professional future • That sweet sweet team: Team members call you names, undermine and bully you constantly! The best comparison here is with that of a rapist to whom you say NO but he takes it as a YES • The not so wonderful clients: This is a company who shuts down internal divisions, fires people, redistributes the workload to the remaining members and lies to clients about the status of the business Make your life easier. Even though you have to do 3 more interviews to find a job, it is better than saying Yes to IQPC.

IQPC Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, I am disheartened to read that you had such a difficult time at IQPC. I was recently appointed as MD of the business unit you worked in and although your employment pre-dates my appointment, I’d like to provide some response and reassurance that steps are already being taken to rectify your concerns. - Too much focus on work I openly encourage a ‘work hard’ culture especially as we operate in such a fast growing sector. However, I also want people to have fun at work. I myself want to enjoy my work and deeply believe in it’s importance. Recently we’ve introduced some optional pastoral activities like meditation and more team bonding activities and whilst we are all 100% here to work, going forward I’m very much pushing the mantra that ‘work made fun gets done’. Overall I believe in creating a culture that supports people in all aspects of their life and promotes a healthy work-life balance. - Your appraisal I have spoken with the manager responsible for your appraisal. By holding this meeting offsite, they had intended to create a comfortable, and open environment for the meeting. They felt that you were feeling under pressure at the time and that this would put you at ease. They now understand that whilst well intentioned, this was not an appropriate decision and I can only apologize that this was mishandled. We have made some process changes as a result of your experience to ensure similar mistakes are not made going forward, and to clarify I agree that absolutely no alcohol should be consumed in this scenario. - Name calling and bullying This point, above all others concerned me. While fun is encouraged and our sales floor especially, can be animated at times, respect should always be paramount. I assure you that I will have no tolerance for anything that crosses that line in the future. - Flux and change As with any fast growing business, there has been plenty of healthy change in recent months but one of the reasons I have been appointed is to create future continuity and consistency. There are no current plans to close any portions of the business, only to add new facets as we continue to grow. Furthermore our clients are deeply important to us, and as we enter the sales cycle for 2019 I am delighted that they are rebooking at extremely high rates. Lying to clients is under no circumstances acceptable. Once again I want too offer my personal apology that you had a difficult experience whilst with IQPC. Please rest assured that I take your feedback seriously and thank you again for giving us the opportunity to improve. I wish you every success with your future career.
