Pros

convenient location usually a fun group of colleagues Sales training Not many hassles if you have to take time off for personal reasons (look for better position)

Cons

Family run organization with son as Managing Director and Sister head of Customer service. Any competent owner would have removed both of them a long time ago with people who actually care that they are running a real company. It clearly feels like a boiler room operation that is only there to line the pockets of the limited partners and not really give the customers any real value for their investment. I was lied to in writing by one of the senior managers how much I was expected to make within a given period of time. I met my sales numbers and then just got an excuse why my commission needed to be cut. Employee happiness is the last thing on the company's mind. After being hired expect your commission to be changed for the worse after a few months of being hired. It happened every year that I was there. I know a number of people that work in the industry and the compensation is much better at other places. Yearly turnover of employees is somewhere in the range of 3 to 1. Unheard of with any company. Job is only good for those living at home with their parents with not a care in the world. If you have your own apartment, live with a roommate or have any sort of major financial responsibilities DO NOT EVEN think of working here. The amount of hours you have to work in order to be decently compensated you might as well work at an hourly wage job.

Pros

The banter is good Good immediate collegues Beer in the office Personable managers Dress down on a Friday Not much

Cons

There is no communication between departments and internal customer service is appalling! Everyone is overworked and underpaid. We are asked to come in early and stay late, there is no extra pay for this but if you don't then trust me, management will remember this! They have no idea what the difference between work and play is. The pay is rediculous compared with other conference companies and other sales roles. Low amount of paid holiday compaered with industry. Time off is frowned upon. Everyone is mircomanaged. It is like being at school. You must not be one minute late, if you are not on the phone for 1 minute you will be asked why. You must stand for the 1st 15 minutes of the day and the first 15 mins back from lunch. We play silly games in the morning to 'rev up' that does nothing to aid our work and is a waste of time. Silly incentives such as make me this amount of money and i will buy you a pint? These dont suffice for the amount of work you have to put in to get that free pint. The management are not experienced at it shows, a lot of blagging it seems to happen along the way. It seems new rules are put in place every day and someone is always leaving. If you make it past a year here you are awesome, most people do not make it past probation, and those who do leave anyway. They extend a lot of probations so they can fire you at any point for any reason. Commision is appaling. The company give you a million false promises at the interveiw stage and continue to lie to you throughout your time there.

Pros

Great location in Victoria. Large office, you will meet a lot of new friends who are always up for having a sneaky pint on a Friday.

Cons

IQPC has a very high turnover of staff, overpromises about training, bonuses and progression through the company. You will find that almost all of the senior staff members joined the company 4 or more years ago and IQPC was their first company. Most do not realise that the grass is truely greener elsewhere, Work in sales? If you are not consistant you will not last very long. But if you are a sales superstar, IQPC will look after you well. Producers get used and abused, very poor pay, low prospects of career progression. Do not be fooled by their revenue share promises, when starting out, you will be testing new and unproven events, most people do not see much of their bonus when starting out. Marketers also get used and abused, it is very common to see people in the marketing department working till after 8 or 9pm, non senor marketers will also get untested, small scale events and will be lucky to see much of their bonus. Senior management are stuck on 10 year old marketing techniques, there is absolutely no innovation, unless you are a monkey, you will not learn anything in the marketing department. Senior management decided to launch various web portals and charge the marketing department to advertise on the portals, this rarely returns a positive roi but all marketers are forced to use their marketing budgets here. Basically, the marketers are funding the development of the portals out of their own bonuses it is an absolute sham. Pretty much the only way you will get a raise from IQPC is by getting another job offer from another company, or threatening to quit. I do not recommend this company for anyone.
