What you would expect from a large, global company

Pros

My colleagues at Quintiles were incredibly professional. The environment was collaborative and goal oriented. The review process (with the exception of my final year there) was fair. As a large, global company and the market leader, they have many resources, provide decent benefits and good training.

Cons

As a forward thinking company, Quintiles often goes through restructurings and changes their operating strategy without seemingly thinking it through fully at first. In my final few years there, management became less supportive and the expectations unrealistic. I'm sure this is not true for every department or employee, but this was my experience.

Pros

CEO is a great guy with good intentions, but he can't over see everything all the time. His lower level management is incompetent, have received no training and are running a zoo. Friendly Co-Workers.

Cons

Management is not on the same page with anything. No Career advancements. They will tell you there is but when the time comes they will hold you back. Line Managers don't agree on anything, and will give different answers every time you ask something. The don't understand details of clinical trials and will tell you to ask your PM, and the PM will tell you to ask your LM. No Training received, which leaves newbies frustrated and studies a mess. Studies are not taken as serious as they should be at the entry level positions. Only 10 days PTO until you have been there 3 years. They promise CTAs a Work from home day but you won't get it once you are in the door. Employees work from home anyways without permission, because managers aren't around enough to notice. Pay is lousy and other CROs in the area will pay you plenty more for the same job.

Pros

Excellent, high quality software engineers pouring their best work into a company with a solid niche in the industry

Cons

Successful horizontal integration of companies recently and quickly acquired by IMS Health is a bit of a long shot.
