Pros

Flexibility 40 hour weeks Independent, offers reasonable hours, offers alternative work schedules Start off with 2 week vacation and separate leave for illness Great for working moms or families Friendly coworker's, like a family Not as cutthroat as outside sector Stable job with great benefits and retirement plan

Cons

Promotions are contingent on budget approved by Congress. Stable job, but frustrating to have more responsibilities being given without being given the resources Older IT equipment and not as up to date as other companies Lots of red tape, like any government entity Very procedurally oriented and structured
