Pros

Pays pretty decently, with on-the-job training.

Cons

(Unfortunately)Training is poor and antiquated; it does not prepare a person "well" for the job(s). The people in charge don't want to "rock the boat", so good change does not happen often. Management changes often and some managers are unqualified to do their job well.

Pros

Steady pay, advancement opportunities, will always be an "IRS"

Cons

Management isn't bound by the union contract. This creates MASSIVE disconnect between the union contract, tax law, administrative law and reality. IRS is tremendously understaffed.
