Pros

Fair Pay that goes up considerably every year Great managers that truly want you to succeed Good benefits Tons of paid time off

Cons

Not a lot of room for advancement. A lot of the people that work here are past retirement age and are still doing the same job.

Pros

Benefits were greats. Great pay. Alternative Work Schedule was offered. You could either work a 4 day 10 hour shift or have one day off every two weeks working a 9 hour shift.

Cons

If you like stress, this job is for you. Worked at the IRS for 20+ years. I stayed as long as I could because of the money/benefits, but couldn't do it any longer. The job is very stressful. Between angry taxpayers and micro management it took it's toll. Your on the phone for at least 6 hours a night during the busy season. You deal with all kinds of scenario's from Identity Theft to lost refunds, audits etc. If you have a good manager and most importantly a good lead you can survive, but it's a hard job never the less. You're dealing with people and their problems. Only a half an hour for lunch.
