      Pros

      Exciting work and the ability to help people. Most people care deeply about doing the right thing and want to help taxpayers.

      Cons

      Very hierarchical. The first questions people ask are your name and how long you've worked at the IRS. Your answer had better be 2+ decades. Bullies are promoted to management and are rewarded for their behavior. It's hurt morale and engagement greatly.

      There is nothing good about this job. It gives you a paycheck and that is it.

      Cons

      Everything is setup to break you down and crush your will. It rewards doing the bare minimum and punishes anyone trying to excel.
