Pros

Pay is good, especially for the area. Freedom to work the job how you want to work it. Local travel is near daily. Support systems everywhere.

Cons

Training is sub-par; I have spent months in training where they just read material to you. This is incredibly unhelpful when applying to real-world scenarios. A trainer is provided, but experience does not equal ability to teach. Unrealistic deadlines that seem easy for seasoned employees create absolute chaos for newer hires. Incredibly inefficient.

Pros

Working for the IRS, as a Contact Rep, was Patriotically fulfilling to me because helping U.S. taxpayers helps the U.S. economy!

Cons

The wages are too low for the work required, which involves being a CSR, Account Manager, Tax Preparer, Appointment Scheduler, Payment Processor, Collections, Fraud/IDT Detector, etc…
