      Pros

      Work/Life balance is the best reason to work for the Treasury. I’ve never had to work past my schedule (8-4:30), I work from home and only have to go to the office 2 days per pay period.

      Cons

      I hate having to record my time and I thought leaving public accounting I would get away from this, but you’re required to record all of your time working cases or doing admin work. And obviously there are no big bonuses or significant salary increases compared to public accounting and private industry.

      Good health benefits Decent pay Workers union

      Cons

      More competitive than they tell you in orientation. Certain departments are treated poorly, and nothing changes because everyone is too afraid to complain to the union about the horrible treatment. If you're good at your job in certain departments, you will never be able to move anywhere else and they ask more of you than they should. Work environment is not as great as they tell you in orientation. Everyone is overworked and not paid enough. The higher ups don't know anything about our job and set unrealistic expectations so everything is constantly changing. Managers and leads are inconsistent. Overall not a great work experience.
