      Pros

      If you make it through the benefits and pay are great

      Cons

      They are a heartless and cut throat organization looking for any and all reasons to throw you out of the training you put your life on hold for. No excuses are qualified for a failure of an almighty exam. My father died a horrible death while I was at FLETC and this was not enough of a reason to miss a couple questions on a useless test.

      Meaning, purpose, stability, work-life balance, ethical and sincere colleagues. Learning curve in the first five years is vertical -- the work is hard, but it's worth it.

      Cons

      Pay is 30-40% less than in industry, but one must balance that against benefits and pension.
