Pros

Excellent benefits, active employee resource groups (ERGs), and the corporate facility is nice. All good things about this company come from the corporate level.

Cons

I joined Automotive thinking I would be able to transfer easily to other divisions, but I could not. Some divisions are labeled as difficult to work for (Automotive, Construction), but the site I worked at was straight-up dysfunctional. I've worked in Manufacturing for decades and these sites are so outdated and terrible I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. They are hopelessly stuck in the 1920's in terms of technology (still depending on tape as a backup for their SAP), social norms (wow, a woman is working here? CRAZY), environment (do you love breathing in oil fumes 24/7? this is the place for you), and work ethic (you should feel lucky to work only 80 hrs a week!) that I can't believe they're still in business in 2020.

Pros

Too many cons to even consider the fact that they have good insurance

Cons

They think they are the only ones that know all the answers. They have a "toolbox" of outdated concepts. They 80/20 everything especially customers which is really bad if you happen to be a customer that doesn't buy enough to be in the top 20 percent. You will be treated poorly, ignored and given outrageous pricing. If you are a young, energetic and talented individual....run!!!.....they will brainwash you and sap the lifeblood from your creativity slowly but surely

Pros

Good Pay, And Excellent Benefits.

Cons

It's easy to get lost in the shuffle, and you really have to champion your own cause. The org structure is counter-intuitive and constantly revolving new faces in leadership positions. Be prepared to walk into a very political environment, and to CYA at all times. Don't expect any upward mobility , but use the position to your personal advantage and growth for future opportunities. HR holds the reigns to the extreme extent that even senior leadership roles are rendered ineffective. "all the responsibility with none of the authority" . Make the most of the role in front of you but think short term if you are choosing ITW as your next move.
