      Great company, but corporate is out of toch with field

      Pros

      Well known, Highly respected, Global company,Diversified, polished, good stock. Many product groups in many indudstries. Good people doing tough jobs.

      Cons

      Poor Management, Poort communication, Lack of staff - short,,Poor incentives,lack of life apart from ITW. Overextending staff and people.

      Pros

      ITW is made up of a lot of SMBs, each with relative autonomy on managing the business (with P&L targets.) No command and control from the top lets the business focus on what they know rather than having the suits calling the shots.

      Cons

      Fortune 200 company trying to function like a 200 employee company. The mindset of how to get things done doesn't scale at all when tackling large efforts.

      Recently, ITW has taken a more active approach to leadership development and employee engagement. We could improve human resources at BUs.

      Cons

      There is a lack of clarity for how to get from one job to the next. General management is the only career path.
