Great place to work, with even better staff

Pros

Iceland know how to treat their staff right, holidays and hours are generous, bonuses for best stores and rewards for staff provide incentives. Managers are trained well and know how to support their staff.

Cons

Many of the iceland stores are small. At times, particularly Christmas the store layout and lack of tills create issues for staff as well as customers.

Managers tend to be motivated to coach and support teams in most instances. Strong ethic in engaging the head office team with a monthly stand up show which included reward & recognition.

Cons

Limited career enhancement opportunities due to a large proportion of long term serving team members.

Pros

Really great culture, everyone just gets on with it and as it's a private company there's not as much corporate politics. The management team are straight talking and respect you for the work you do. They give you the training you need to do your job well, engage you with team building events and reward through social events.

Cons

The dynamic management team are always looking for new ventures which is a good thing, but sometimes the complexities are not always fully considered which can put pressure on certain departments. This is part of the job though and as always, if you support the new ventures, you are appreciated.
