Pros

The customer service center is fairly typical of a call center, but the pay and PTO are above average.

Cons

Leadership in the Customer Service Center lacks an acceptable level of genuine kindness, there's much empathy but little actual kindness. Many of the leaders have been in the same role for too many years, multiple decades in a few cases, and kindness toward the actual workers has much opportunity to improve.

A company that cares for its people

Pros

The company takes care of its employees. Training and development opportunities abound, and regular pay raises and incentives--as well as generous benefits--help retain good employees. A job in the utility industry is stable but also challenging and exciting--so much to learn for people who really want to dive in. The company is good about helping people learn about other positions within the company and more about the industry in general. I really appreciate the work/life balance I have, even post-COVID, and feel like my boss and coworkers know that family comes first. I enjoy and respect the people I work with immensely.

Cons

A 100-year-old company has a storied history. Most of that is great, but some mindsets or processes or practices are hard to change when you've done things a certain way for so long. However, I've always felt comfortable bringing up questions or concerns at some level within the organization, depending on the issue.

Pros

they pay, good benefits, and solid people working around you. Plenty of potential for career growth, as long as you're willing to stick around a loooong time.

Cons

Its a call center. They try to pretend that they're different or have some kind of special work culture, but there are calls in que and hard metrics for everything you can imagine. If endless calls and classic call center experience is your thing, then great. They demand a lot, and pay is increased based on time rather than actual skill or responsibility.
