Pros

Illumio is an amazing place to work if you’re passionate about cybersecurity and want to be part of a company that truly values innovation. The culture here is fantastic—collaborative, inclusive, and very supportive. As an Illumineer, you’re encouraged to bring your best ideas forward, and management genuinely listens and acts on feedback. The work-life balance is great, and the company’s commitment to employee well-being is evident in the benefits and flexibility offered.

Cons

Like any fast-growing company, Illumio is constantly evolving, which can sometimes feel like a lot of change to keep up with. However, it’s all part of the exciting journey of being at the forefront of cybersecurity.

Pros

Solid benefits, free lunch in office.

Cons

In my tenure, I saw most of the sales leadership and supporting functions be turned over and replaced by former VMware employees. The CRO is a former VMware exec, and he replaced many good people with his cronies. In addition to screwing over a lot of dedicated employees, Illumio is a security company and VMware is not, so these new people struggle to position a new offering (CloudSecure) because they don't understand market fit, lack the ability to speak to these types of buyers and decision makers, and lack the basic security understanding to pivot the message to this audience and not parrot the company messaging which has been revised multiple times and still doesn't hit the mark with buyers. They continue to miss revenue numbers, and in response, assign unobtainable quota on sellers and spend too many hours training them hoping this will help. And, because this comment won't get posted if I say what I really feel, I'll just say that the CEO is an absolutely horrible person, and you can insert the word of choice there instead. I personally witnessed him rip into staff over the smallest matters, and the rest of the executive staff cowers to him. He is aloof, uncaring, never present, but if things don't go his way, everyone is catching strays. They keep talking about an IPO, but with poor leadership and poor market fit, coupled with missing revenue targets repeatedly (by a lot), I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Hi there and thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. As we continue to scale the company and the GTM org, we're welcoming talent from across the industry, to include both security and security-adjacent companies, some of whom are companies where our leaders have worked before. And even more than which companies someone has worked at, we're focused on growing our team with folks whose values align with ours, and who have a history of achieving and exceeding their goals, no matter which part of the business they're in. Given the transparency we have in our quarterly all hands meetings, I'm excited about and encouraged by our strong progress this year against our goals, and we look forward to that success continuing this quarter and as we close the year. I'm grateful for your candor about how your experience is going, and if you'd be open to it, I'd appreciate the chance to connect live to hear confidentially from you about where and how we can continue to improve. The experience of each Illumineer matters to the E-Staff and me, and I hope you'll reach out so I can learn more. Thanks, David Chief People Officer

Thanks for sharing your feedback and I agree with your headline about the overall very positive culture we have here at Illumio. I'm aligned with you on all of your Pros, and we'll do our best to keep those delivering for you and your colleagues! In terms of your things we can work on, the leadership team are focused on continuing to show up both internally and externally as one Illumio as we collaborate and solve together. And as we look at our real estate plans going forward, we'll see what we can do about an on-site gym :) Thanks again for sharing your feedback - please keep it coming, and don't hesitate to reach out to me directly if there are other things we could be doing to deliver on your expectations here! Thanks, David Chief People Officer
