Pros

Remote work, summer professional development

Cons

Very low pay. It is not worth working here due to the very low pay. Many incompetent managers. Heavy workload for low pay. Low quality products and poor customer service. The technology support department doesn't answer the phone and doesn't want to help customers.

Pros

Twig Education - or Imagine Learning Studio UK as it is now known following an unpopular takeover by a US corporation - is a pleasant place to work. Upwards of 80% of staff are nice, interesting, talented people. The office sits in a great part of Glasgow and there are decent but not earth-shattering hybrid work arrangements etc. For a 9-5 job, it's pretty good.

Cons

This review specifically refers to the editorial department. If you want more out of editorial/publishing work, look elsewhere. Much of the material produced here is uninspiring and not produced to a particularly high standard. There is virtually no training (except for laughable HR-mandated online chores) and no career development. Senior positions are held by people who have been here for 10+ years, several of whom are barely competent. You might find it funny to have critical work questions answered with anecdotes about the head of content's dog the first time - and the tenth! But when it happens literally hundreds of times you really do begin to despair. Favouritism abounds - I say that not necessarily out of bitterness, since I've benefited from being a favourite at the expense of others here! But it's so arbitrary (it can, seriously, depend on how much the aforementioned dog likes you). I keep my head down, do a good job and take home a so-so salary, but I am ultimately frustrated - not least because other departments in the same building seem to be much better run. I'm hoping to be out of here by Christmas - though I would've said the same last year!
