Pros

- The starting pay at this particular store was $12/hour, which is insanely amazing - Free burger, fries, and drink every day that you work

Cons

- Favoritism: If you aren't a manager's pet, you'll see yourself get reprimanded for things other people do all the time - Expected to be nice and peppy to the point of fakeness while managers themselves are rude and not motivating in the least - Extremely strict dress code, once got in trouble for wearing ankle socks instead of mid calf socks (oh the horror) - Some days you get off two hours early, the next you're held over your scheduled time by two hours without any notice - Sometimes you aren't given breaks at all - You will personally be mocked and made uncomfortable if you work at this particular store - You will be shown once, very quickly how to perform a task, and then expected to do it yourself, just as quickly, without making a single mistake. To put it simply, the training definitely needs to improve - A lot of the store's procedures lack efficiency - You'll stink of burgers even after a shower - Managers give you a hard time for things you have no control over - Employees will actually tell on you for things, and once again, if the manager likes them more than you, you'll get in trouble for it - Managers behave extremely unprofessionally - Takes forever to move up - Every manager acts as though they own the world when they flip burgers for a living

Pros

In-N-Out proved to be a highly demanding, but entertaining place of work while I was in college. The level of work required constant attention and there was really no time to slack off. I absolutely loved this, as it made time pass at an unbelievably rapid pace. Time off wasn't a hassle, as long as it was requested two weeks in advance, which is perfect for the student lifestyle. The pay is amazing, $10.00 to start, with raises up to $13.50 before management. Training is very detailed, and the use of "quick checks" to evaluate your performance is a tool used often. Part-time benefits are offered but not really advertised, and are quite mediocre. The free food kept me alive.

Cons

Despite the environment, management will suck the happiness out of you. High-level associates will treat the individual store as their playground, and pick fights, play games, and gossip while senior level management is only concerned with day-to-day operations. The hours are atrocious, and if you want to work full time, or make any real money, you must be willing to work any time between 5am and 2am. Full time status is usually avoided with scheduling manipulation.

Pros

Free burgers (even though they’re cheap already), decent pay for the torture they make you go through

Cons

Disgustingly disrespectful, rude, idiotic, mindless, downright horrible customers which the company takes the side of in EVERY situation. You are worked to the bone, given the worst shifts, given every excuse in the book to not get promoted unless if you’re full time, and you are constantly harassed about looking the happiest to people who make you want to blow your brains out every moment of your shift. The CEO pretends like she cares, but in all reality she’s just sitting on a fortune and doing nothing new with it. At this job, you will never be good enough. You will receive very lackluster compliments for a job well done that are completely not genuine, followed by 2 things you did wrong. The worst people move up, and make your life as a lower level misery because the higher levels take out their frustration on you. This job is hell. There is no other way to say it, other than this job is complete and utter hell. You never get off on time, EVER. It may be 10 minutes or 2 hours, but your manager and your company couldn’t care less if you have a first date after work, they are going to work you to the ground because the customer’s appendage is rammed so far up In N Out’s rectum that they will do anything to make their experience a little quicker. My advice to anybody who has any ambitions in life? Don’t work here. This job sucks. I believed the hype and loved the job at first, and then you realize how much you really are overworked, and how little pay you receive in comparison to the complete beat down you go through every shift. AND THIS JOB IS ALL MICROMANAGEMENT. A cult.
