Good not Great

Pros

Wonderful people and decent compensation

Cons

Look no further than the performance of Incyte's stock. This will tell you it's a good company but not a great one. As an S&P 500 member it's appalling how poorly it's performed. Take a look at the past 10 years and you will see the S&P had risen 180% while Incyte stock has only risen 24% over that time. Or how about the past 5 years where the S&P is up 91% vs Incyte being DOWN 25%. The past 2 years; S&P up 29% vs Incyte DOWN 16%. Or finally just the past 12 months; S&P up 27% while DOWN 3% here. Terrible no matter what timeline you look at. Or we can zoom in and look at just the Healthcare sector. But it's the same story. S&P up 82% in 10 yrs, 65% in 5, 13% in 2 and 15% in past 12 months vs. the above Incyte performance. Completely suboptimal execution. Leadership continues to say they are doing a great job even though the stock says the opposite. This organization needs a change agent at the top and maybe across the entire board. They can no longer just sit there and accept the status quo. It's unacceptable and shareholders deserve better. Until then, this will only be a good company but never a great one.

Pros

Free coffee from lunch room machine

Cons

Where to start? Leadership claims that everyone must be in-person, though a few select (read: favorited) employees are able to work remotely while others are forced to come into office. Leadership does not allow any budging on the in-person component. Also, salary is lower than any other place I’ve worked, and they try to say that small amount of LTI is what makes role enticing, though it requires you to stay with the company for 5 years typically. Also LTI matters if the company is doing well and with Jakafi’s patent expiring soon, there’s nothing exciting in the pipeline. If you’re looking for career growth, this is not the place to be. They believe in a flat organization and even with title promotions, it takes 3-4 years to be promoted. Leadership does not believe in growth of any kind and rarely provides opportunities or change to better tactics and strategy throughout the company.

Pros

The medical, dental, and vision benefits at Incyte are incredible. During my time with the company you paid $0 for all of these things, which could be to offset the lack of monetary compensation compared to other companies.

Cons

Where to begin with cons…. -Management is not the best, with condescending attitude and does not listen to suggestions for the team. -Worst base salary I’ve ever received in my career -No growth within role possible due to their flat org chart -New ideas or ways of thinking are not appreciated by management -Inept upper management in place and don’t promote those who deserve to be promoted -Several pointless weekly internal meetings that take you away from your family. -Upper management who lack boundaries and respect -Upper management who lack an appropriate background on the disease states and/or the job description
