      Have had a few part-time jobs with them

      Pros

      I have only worked part-time with IU, but I was fairly satisfied. I think they pay a pretty fair hourly wage for their part-time workers--I believe the minimum they pay now is $8.50. I have always had really great co-workers here and consider many of them close friends.

      Cons

      Across all of the jobs I've worked here, I've felt a general sense of disorganization. At times it seemed there was an asymmetry of information between management and employees, as well as between co-workers. This was especially frustrating in regards to employee training.

      Low Salaries for Support staff

      Pros

      Education/academic environment is excellent but not attainable for most support staff. Most support are treated as if they are children with no or little educational achievements.

      Cons

      Higher than average cost for parking on campus for support staff. Lower than average salaries for support staff.

      A wonderful place to learn complex surgical populations and cases.

      Pros

      You will learn techniques and surgical cases that many hospitals do not do. Will train new employees to both scrub and circulate. Precepting new employees very rewarding and satisfying. A great place to learn organizational and management skills.

      Cons

      Constantly changing interns, residents. Hard to get any time off. Pay increases very minuscule, even for high performers. No breaks given, except for lunch, even for twelve hour people.
