HR ineffective - high turnover in certain departments.

Pros

Worked here for 5 years.Excellent benefits; good PTO rules; new appointees for Executive VCs are good, involve staff in University Strategic Plan.

Cons

Turnover >30% in certain departments. No training for people who are in high managerial positions. No work likf balance although it is talked about a great deal. Micro-managers at department levels. No oversight or understanding of high turnover rates, HR turns a blind eye all the time. No efforts at correction or improvements. C'est la vie, laissez faire attitude.

Pros

Great benefits, depending on your department, you can work uninterrupted. They let you roll your PTO over. Benefits packages are outstanding.

Cons

No oversight or accountability for top dogs. Problems roll down hill. Pay is terrible, it reflects the value they place in their employees. In other nonprofits and universities, pay is much higher.
