Pros

IU is in a livable city. University HR provides good resources for developing professional skill sets. The university provides numerous high quality programs and events, including theater and music.

Cons

Pay is low for the field, and there is income disparity across similar job ranks. There are still town-gown issues (faculty-staff issues).

Pros

Co-curricular work is helpful in expanding your knowledge in your field. Access to facilities and supplies greatly increases when becoming an assistant. SAA's at IU receive fee remission, medical, and dental benefits.

Cons

Balancing coursework and job duties can be tough as work hours may exceed those that are billed.
