Pros

IU has a number of resources and opportunities available, due to the size and scope of the university. Each department/school runs in its own unique way, so it is hard to generalize about the university as a whole.

Cons

IU is a very large institution, so the policies and procedures can be unclear at times, and change happens fairly slowly.

Working at Indiana University

Pros

Benefits, the majority of the people you work with are great, the chance to work with people from all types of academic and research interests, the beautiful campus you work on

Cons

A feeling that some parts of the university are more important than others. This comes from administration, not the workers in those areas. Like a lot of places in higher ed these days, a corporate mentality has set in. A lot of value is placed on the institution making money.
