Pros

You get decent retirement and health benefits.

Cons

Director of building services Kevin Christoun prioritizes cutting costs. He does this by skipping out on filling staff positions once they become vacant and then expanding the responsibilities of the remaining staff to fill in the gaps without increasing pay proportionally. This goes for employees, supervisors, and managers, however low ranking employees see the worst of this. When concerns are raised you are told to go to the union.

Pros

The position offers strong access to collaborators and institutional resources that can accelerate impactful, grant‑funded research. Good benefits.

Cons

The role often carries high pressure to secure external funding and publish while having limited job security and less protected time compared with tenure‑track positions.
