Pros

Generous PTO and retirement benefits. Generally friendly and collaborative colleagues. Flexibility to work from home. Inspiring mission and values. Opportunities to do work that improves the lives of others and makes a positive difference in your community.

Cons

External environment making it increasingly difficult to fulfill mission and values. Salaries are not competitive enough - no one in higher ed expects to make as much as they would in the private sector, but they're not even on par with those lower expectations. Raises are incredibly hard to get, even for top performers.

Pros

Good benefits, friendly staff, lots of longevity from other staff members

Cons

Low moral, leadership does not want to seem to address issues or take accountability for moral issue. Not a lot of mobility to other jobs or to be promoted. Lower compensation than similar jobs on the market.
