The only pro is that we are making twice what the underground guys make.

I'm sorry you did not have a good experience with employment although it sounds like you were paid very well as an apprentice. Can you provide additional details regarding tool purchases? Are you referring to personal tool replacement or company owned tools required to do the job? The job location that you have listed above has pallets of bottled water that are provided all day, everyday at leisure. If there is a legitimate issue, we want to resolve it ASAP for current and future employees.
