Pros
Plenty of resources, plenty of people willing to help. Flexible work schedule. Inova is also on the leading edge in many areas of healthcare to include new areas of research and how to adapt the organization to compete in the coming health reform environment. It is a large organization within a a relatively small geographic area. This lends itself to many promotional opportunities, without the need to relocate.
Some of the best physicians in their filed work for Inova, so there is planty of opportunity to learn. This alos lends itself to development of leading edge progrgrams and use of leading edge equipment.
Inova is not a leading payor, but they are competitive and off very fair wages. Inova is an excellent community citizen proviing a top tier public safety net program. Inova also provides tens of millions in uncompensated care for its community every year.
Benefits are quite good. Inova has a chioce of 5 different health plans, all of which seem pretty competitive. Their HSA plan is actually free (no premium) for single coverage. They also have commuter spending accounts and two retirement plans - a 401(k) and a cash balance pension plan.
Overall, I would say Inova is a pretty good place to work.
Cons
Healthcare is always a hectic place to work so I'm not sure what can really be done about that. I think the PTO plan could be a little bit better. I also think that management could do a better job of letting employees know what is going on and where Inova is headed given the new health reform environment.
