Pros

Burt Bean Seemed like a decent guy.

Cons

Ok Strap in, Im going to give you the most comprehensive review on Glassdoor about insight global, possibly one of the weirdest organizations in America. Let's start with company culture. The culture is a weird fever dream grey area between "startup" and "Corporate" Everyone is young and fresh out of college (this is by design because, you are naive and just happy to be hired out of college) and is either attractive or very Type A. They sell you on things like Red Bull Flip cup and fun happy hours, all things to distract you from how awful the actual work is. the company wants to put on this charade of startup culture and yet the dress code is something out of 1950s Wall Street, a suit and tie is required and they are VERY strict on what constitutes a suit (I wore a blue sport coat with a tie and slacks and was reprimanded for it. They even sent out a company-wide email while I was there saying that the different types of socks that some people were wearing was getting out of hand and that only solid black, blue, grey and brown socks were allowed WHAT? you encourage our employees to play college drinking games throughout the day, but you draw the line at striped socks? So unbelievably backwards and strange. It's a real sip the kool aide kind of company, they try to make you believe that you're doing something other than making phone calls for corporate equivalent of minimum wage, and the sad part it, a lot of people buy it. They have happy hours during the week fairly often that you are basically forced to attend, even after working a 12 hour day. I decided to not go to one once because my commute home was well over an hour with traffic (because they moved my office to a different town two weeks after I was hired) and I just wanted to get home. The next day I was called in to talk to the manager, and was asked if I was serious about working at IG and if I was enjoying my time, I told them that I simply was tired and had a long commute, to which they responded by listing off all the other employees who had long commutes that attended the happy hour, real dictator type stuff. Which brings me to my next point, work-life balance. There is none, yeah the conferences are fun, but THE'YRE ON THE WEEKEND. You also shamed if you go home any time before six o'clock, even if you hit your numbers for the day. We went out one night to a bar and they literally started doing company work chants at the bar like some kind of college basketball student section, its obnoxious and cult-like. People who stay long enough to be an account manager are arrogant and act like they are better than you because they made more phone calls than you. The pay is awful, something like 35k a year, which they can get away with because it is mostly college grads who are still living at home, who don't have real expenses yet, and they know the most of them will quit before they get to the age where they need to start making good money to live. The commission structure is weird and all depends on how many people you've gotten hired, and how badly you've ripped them off. If you're in a smaller market, your potential for good commission is minuscule, as its basically a numbers game, if you're in a smaller market, there's just less opportunity to place clients. You are also shamed if you take vacation and are effectively demoted when you come back, because you fall so far behind on work. Which brings me to my next point and I don't know if this has changed but they didn't allow you to put your company email on your personal cell phone because they 'didn't want you take your work home with you" THEN HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO TAKE VACATION AND NOT FALL BEHIND ON WORK?? clearly they do it, not because they want to give you work life balance, its because they don't ant you to take vacation! Ok I could literally write pages on this place but I'll end it here. Bottom line is this place is a strange, awful, and just a part of my life that I have mostly blocked out. Stay away, or you'll regret it.

Pros

I want to preface this with the fact that I worked for Insight Global as a Recruiter for almost a year and left under good terms when I found another job. All the information below I also validated with friends I had in other Insight Global offices, some of whom are still there. 1) You can make ALOT of money. Recruiters only make 30-40k a year depending on the city. Professional recruiters make 60-90k (some make more or less depending on how good they are). Account Managers make anywhere from 80-150k a year. Anyone who is promoted and stays with the company longer than 2 years will be making a lot of money. There were several individuals in my office that were making over 180k a year. Also all salaries are transparent and can be viewed on the intranet (this is a point of pride within the company). 2) Personally I also matured a lot in the year I was working at Insight Global. I don't know whether this was directly because of Insight Global or because of the fact that I was in the corporate world. 3) I became good friends with most people in the office because they are all friendly and genuinely do want to see you succeed. 4) It is a fun, young environment to work in.

Cons

1) MOST OF THE REVIEWS ON GLASSDOOR AND OTHER REVIEW WEBSITES ARE DONE BY CURRENT EMPLOYEES. I myself was REQUIRED to post positive things about the company and was yelled at for not having my contractors post positive things about Insight Global. 2) The turnover was terrible. My office averaged about 20 people (Recruiters and Account Managers) at any given time. In one year 23 people had left or been fired. We had over 100% turnover in one year. In addition only about 1 out of every 3 recruiters is ever promoted to Account Manager. 3) Insight Global is a "line them up, sign them up company." They ONLY hires kids directly out of college. They claim it is because they don’t want previously “influenced” employees, but I think it is mainly because anyone with experience in another company wouldn’t be ok with the work situation. 4) I was asked to do things I was uncomfortable with. Examples were asking candidates for reference information that is then used for leads and developing new business. Also we were required to ask people where they are interviewing and the managers they interviewed with. This was called a “hot lead” because we could then reach out to that manager directly. 5) For me the work was grueling and not interesting. The challenging aspect was that I was expected to perform mundane actions that made business sense, but didn’t result in rewarding work. 6) Bonuses and incentive structures are designed to keep productive employees from leaving. It is tough for a 20 something year old to walk away from a six figure paycheck when they don't really have many applicable skills to apply to a new job. Also the benefits suck and they take a large amount of your paycheck. Also a 401k is only available after 1 full calendar year. 7) The most successful Account Managers were very aggressive (a trait upper management loved), but a trait I though often was borderline arrogance. This attitude translated into being made to feel as if you were almost a second class employee. Summary: The Recruiter/Account Manager role will be a fit if the most important thing in your career is making money.

Pros

I've met good friends there, still friends with them now and I feel bad that some are still employees there.

Cons

Working at Insight is like repeating the 9th grade. I couldn't put it in better terms. You're answering to people who've never worked in a real corporate environment with mature superiors; everyone, including the "regional manager" is is under the age of 35, which seems great at first but have you ever been scolded by your "boss" who is younger than you? Facts about the role that they don't tell you in your interview: - You HAVE to be at the office before 7:30am and if you aren't, you'll get pulled into the back by your "boss" and scolded/belittled - If you don't stay past 5:30pm every single day you'll be told you're not working hard enough (that's a 10+ hour work day M-F) - On top of your 50+ hour work week there's also "forced fun" involved. Almost every other week they have a happy hour that you are forced to go to, either after work on a weekday or on a Saturday. Yes they make you go to these - The starting pay is 31k, they tell you that you get a 10k bump after 6 months. The 10k raise is actually after 7 and a half months. After the $500 a month taken out for benefits (horrible benefits) your weekly check is about $430-$450 a week for 7 1/2 months, barely enough to live on - There are two ways that you can go for a promotion, professional recruiter or account management, they ONLY hire for sales. The day you decide that sales isn't for you, they either disregard you (don't do anything to advance your recruiting skills) or put you on an improvement plan which just means you'll be let go in a month - There's scheduled lunch, you can pick either 1st or 2nd lunch (yes back to high school) and if you are out of the office at all during the day they look down on you if you take a lunch - It's a title-driven environment. It doesn't matter how good you are at your job, if you have a "lower" job title you are treated worse
