Pros

The immediate clinical team is lovely and generally easy to work with and collaborate. It's a hectic day-to-day environment, so having a good support system around you means a lot. This support system was the only reason I stayed at my position for as long as I did.

Cons

The CMO/founder is very difficult to work with. The CMO is not in the clinic super often due to working at other sites and being in surgery, but when he's there the environment changes. He yells at employees who can't stand up to him for fear of being fired, makes unreasonable demands of others' off hours, and generally just breeds a culture of fear around the workplace. He will also spend more time doing social media/promotional work than actually spending time in clinic with his patients, whenever he can help it. I understand having high expectations of your staff and wanting the best for your company, but that's no excuse to treat others around you like they're beneath you. Also, don't expect to be given the time of day if you're a woman. You as an employee deserve better than to be subjected to this kind of behavior from a superior. Also, in addition to all this, in the clinic assistant role you will be responsible for work that could easily be distributed among 2-3 different roles. This will include preparing for each patient's appointment (ensuring medical records and imaging are available for the doctor to see), preparing visit notes for scribes (which is also you) to use when in the appointments themselves, and all with little to no support from higher-ups. Also, this position puts you in close proximity with the surgeons, which includes the CMO, meaning you will be subjected to his behavior very often.

Pros

Pay and benefits are good

Cons

-There is no HR -You will be expected to do way more than just your job title, everyone at Inspired Spine has added duties and tasks outside of their job description -Random schedule, as a PA you are expected to round whenever the surgeons are unavailable, including on the weekend. There is a "rounding schedule" but the surgeons do not follow it and expect you to round if they are out of town -Strong focus on profit over patient care -A lot of bad outcomes from surgeries, which PAs and nurses are expected to help the patient manage. After the surgery the surgeons avoid the patients at all cost. -A toxic work environment with a lot of turnover -Strongly misrepresented the job during the interview process
