      IDA can be a good place to work

      1. Great way to expose yourself to alot of hard interesting problems. 2. Great retirement benefits 3. Academic atmosphere

      Cons

      IDA has shifted to the consulting model minus the salary increase. A few divisions now require their employees to do business development with the Government in order to get pay raises or promoted. Even Research Assistants are being tasked to do business development.

      It is sometimes a challenge to balance ones personal interest in different projects to accommodate surge or quick-turn efforts across the total work portfolio.

      Pros

      IDA has some of the best benefits that I have seen. For example, if you contribute 5% of your salary to the retirement plan, they match with 11%. They offer medical PPO and HMO options, dental, vision, disability, pet, and life insurance.

      Cons

      Job requires a security clearance so only U.S. citizens plus the lengthy process to get cleared. Vacation maxes out at 4 weeks.
