Caregivers and med techs actually care about the residents.

Cons

We do not have the resources we need to meet resident needs. Staff are forced to work double shifts against their will due to no-shows. Co-workers are frequently in tears due to not being able to care for residents properly.

Pros

Freedom to run my community in a way that suits us best. Policies and guidelines are in place for the frame work but flexibility is allowed so we are not a cookie cutter community. I have great regional support with no micromanaging. CEO is very smart and affable.

Cons

Only one nurse in AL/MC which can be a challenge since ED and nurse are on-call 24/7.

Don’t Be Fooled

Decent benefits, PTO, and working with the residents.

Cons

Where do I begin? The expectations of my position were unrealistic. I mentally broke down several times because I never felt I could achieve the tasks/goals upper management set. There was no work/life balance, which led to burnout. The high turnover of staff meant I had to constantly fill in other positions which took away focus from my primary role.
