Pros

High tech company. Sabbaticals every seven years, telecommuting policies that allow workers to work from home one day a week, 3 weeks of vacation the first year you work there and 4 weeks vacation after working there 10 years. Reasonably good pay and their bonus program is a substantial part of the total compensation. Lots of challenging work and opportunties to bite off as much as you can chew (or more). Side benefits like free soft drinks, coffee and tea from the cafe is nice. Free fruit is a great way to eat healthier. Worldwide presence and opportunities for travel.

Cons

"Redeployments" are done with no logic. Extremely talented resources (people) are let go that have a wealth of legacy knowledge and experience. Like other large, major corporations, it's very easy to get caught up in the bureaucracy of doing things just to support efforts from on high that, at the end of the day, don't really add a lot of value. Taking away the ability to work remotely (no physical office presence in any Intel building) forced many talented individuals to leave the company when they chose not to relocate to an approved site. Uncertainty on whether you will have a job or not 6 months from now is a definite downside.

Pros

It feels great to work for the leading semiconductor manufacturer in the world. Depending on the group, you may have the opportunity to travel to one of Intel's many sites around the world. You also get to work with some of the smartest people in the world. This provides an experience in which you are learning something new every single day. The benefits package is great and provides great medical care and extra bonuses during the year. The free drinks in the cafeteria are also a plus!

Cons

There is a lot of bureacracy and politics at work here.

Pros

You can move around to different positions and learn new skills. The benefits are outstanding and the compensation is very competitive. In general I think Intel tries to do the right thing. It often fails in execution.

Cons

Politics, politics, politics. The downside of allowing people to move around with sometimes little experience for positions is that nepotism and the good-ole-boy mentality maintain a grip on the culture. Very demeaning. Also, because of the way Intel structures its review process and pits employees against each other, this environment doesn't breed collaboration but extreme competition. This creates silos and the hording of knowledge.
