Not what it used to be

Pros

The hospital was a gift to the community from the LDS church. I really believe that it started with good intention. A lot of people who have been with IHC for a long time really put their heart and soul into their work.

Cons

I have been with IHC for a long time. Even with the pay being comparably lower I felt well compensated because of the good benefits and felt that I was a valued part of my team. IHC is stripping these benefits away at an alarming rate without raising wages proportionately. Only 8 sick calls per year even for staff that are exposed daily, or work with immunocompromised patients. Ihc’s funeral leave went from 4 days to 1 for grandparents- can’t even go out of town for a funeral. Call back pay is absolute joke at this hospital- I would never plan on it. Most policies at IHC are written by people sitting behind desks working normal business hours and are not applicable at all to medical staff pinching numbers at front line workers expense. As an RN or front line worker at this hospital you feel you’re disposable and at the bottom of the priority list. Never used to feel that way until more recently. Culture is unit dependent. With them stripping more and more away, you’re at the mercy of your management.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, both positive and constructive. We value all our current and former caregivers’ feedback, as our focus is to continually improve our practices. At Intermountain Health, we enjoy the privilege of working with caregivers from many different heritages and backgrounds, who enhance our mission by bringing their traditions, customs, experiences, and perspectives to work every day. Our Office of Equity and Inclusion (OEI) is active in visibly raising awareness and helping us create a culture of equitable opportunity and belonging. The OEI hosts and sponsors events, trainings, Caregiver (Employee) Resource Groups, and multimedia marketing campaigns. More fundamentally, these talented caregivers drive our focus on ongoing policies and practices for hiring, supporting, and developing a diverse and culturally competent workforce at all levels, listening to diverse groups caregivers, and sourcing from diverse talent pools in the community. We appreciate your review and will share it with our teams as we continue to move forward.
