Pros

Great work ethic; there is a strong desire to do what is best for patients and their loved ones. Senior management strives hard to create a supportive work environment.

Cons

As with any large, non-tech company, Intermountain is evolving it's perception of how new-media can help improve their efficiencies and perception in the broader community.

Pros

Management seems to "get it" with respect to technology -- they see the value and invest resources to capitalize on technology. Fantastic, friendly team. It hardly feels like "work" because everyone on my team are great friends. There's plenty of room for creativity within your project. Hours are flexible. There is a dedicated support structure, so you don't spend your development time answering support calls. The senior management really want Intermountain to be a good place to work, and it shows.

Cons

The pay is average, and the opportunities for advancement are slim. Seniority seems more important than your job performance, so you don't have much chance of moving up the ladder if you weren't one of the first few people on a team. Benefits are alright, but health insurance is the worst of anywhere I've been (ironic, right?).

Pros

Decent benefits if you work full time. In my position raise amounts, and raise times are well known, and executed.

Cons

If you are part-time, benefits are not good. Since it is a healthcare organization, it goes 24/7. Be prepared to work several holidays (at 1.5x pay, so that is good) throughout the year. Also you may end up working in the middle of the night.
