Sinking ship

Pros

They have cheap health insurance. There is tons of overtime if you want it because people are leaving due to poor and abusing management.

Cons

Don’t expect to be treated well here. It’s all about Marc Harrison and making sure upper management does as little as possible. Staff takes on more patients than is safe for the health care employee and the patient. The bottom line is all this company truly cares about. The rest is just a facade to draw more revenue.

Pros

Team leads and lower level managers were very reasonable with work/life balance. If you pulled an all nighter, they never expected you to be at your desk the next day. Fantastic group of co-workers. Unlike a lot of comments, salary was decent enough. Flexible working hours and telecommuting.

Cons

The separation of teams into operation and engineering is something I have never experienced in 30 years of systems admin work. I felt it lead the operations side into a dead end career wise. The DXC outsourcing is not going well. A large proportion of the talented IT folks have all run for the exits.

No Longer Care about Caregivers (employees)

Business Outlook

Pros

Intermountain has long been a place that deeply cared about, not only the patients they serve, but also their employees. There were many times I was in meetings where decisions were made, not on cost, but what was best for the patients we serve. I hope this doesn't change.

Cons

With recent changes, the employees have been treated more and more like an asset that can be replaced easily. They have forgotten how much it takes to train their employees and how valuable they are. It has moved from the best place to work, to a place where collaboration is no longer a good idea because if you don't show value and "walk the line" you are no longer valuable. Different ideas from those senior leaders are looked down on (isn't this why we "celebrate diversity"?). Intermountain's Values of Integrity, Trust, Excellence, Accountability and Mutual Respect seem to have been lost the last 9 months. More and more employees are being micro managed and treated as though they do not have Intermountain's success in mind - that they are just making a living.
