Pros

Gaining lots of experience in management, managing databases, volunteers, hiring interns and volunteers, creating curriculum, teaching some classes, and making important decisions that impact the program. Able to flex time.

Cons

Low pay for a lot of work. Not easy to move up the ladder. It is a good place to gain experience but if you want to move up, you will need to work elsewhere after a few years at IRC.

Pros

Truly wonderful mission and dedicated staff. The pay is minimal, so staff is truly in it to assist refugees.

Cons

The salary is minimal at best. The benefits help ease the sting of the pay, but it's difficulty to contribute to your retirement fund or pay copays at the doctor when you are barely scraping by.
